Get Ready for Repair Revolution in Selby!

Great news, Selby! Our Zero Selby has secured funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to launch a series of exciting Repair Cafes, offering residents a fantastic opportunity to:

Save Money: Repair your favorite clothes, curtains, or even school uniforms before the new term starts—much more affordable than buying new.

Reduce Waste: By giving your loved items a second life, you're helping to minimize landfill waste and create a more sustainable future.

Share and Learn: These cafes are vibrant hubs for learning new skills, swapping repair tips, and connecting with your community over a friendly cuppa.

Mark Your Calendars!

Our first Repair Cafe kicks off on Tuesday, August 20th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Head over to the Church at the Crossroads (Parkin Ave, Selby YO8 8BY) with your textiles in need of some TLC. Our team of skilled volunteers will be there to help with repairs on clothes, curtains, linen, and even school uniforms—perfect timing for back-to-school prep!

Beyond the Repairs: Volunteering Opportunities!

Do you have a passion for mending and a knack for fixing things? We're actively seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our Repair Cafe family! Whether you're a sewing whiz, a DIY master, or an electrical whiz kid, your skillset can make a real difference. We're looking for volunteers skilled in sewing, DIY, IT, electrical repairs, woodwork, and bike maintenance to help with future themed Repair Cafes.

Join Our Repair Cafe Drop-in Sessions!

Can't wait to get involved? We're hosting drop-in sessions at Community House to answer your questions about the Repair Cafes and hear your ideas on how they can best serve Selby. Come along for a chat and a cuppa on Monday, August 5th or Thursday, August 15th from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.

Spread the Word!

Excited to share your repair knowledge or learn something new? Help us spread the word about the Repair Cafes! For more information on volunteering or the cafes themselves, reach out to Bryony at bryony@upforyorkshire.org.uk.

Let's mend, learn, and connect—together!
